Well….that was….anticlimactic.
ND vs Indiana
This was….yeah. At the end of the day, Indiana looked overmatched in the 1st and 3rd quarters of the game. The final score didn’t reflect how much Notre Dame controlled this game.
Penn State vs SMU
Not much to say here. Penn State absolutely throttled SMU.
Texas vs Clemson
This looked like the closest game of the four, but Texas wasn’t really in danger of losing. Clemson scored on their first drive and that was based on their initial scripted drive. Out of the four games, this game had the only lead change.
Ohio State vs Tennessee
An absolute splattering.
It’s hard to come out with a definite statement about the 12 team playoff, but if there is one thing that most people can agree on, is that I don’t think anyone had fun watching SMU, Clemson, Tennessee, and Indiana get pummeled. I sure didn’t enjoy it. As far as the 12 team playoff being a disaster….I think we all should reserve judgment until the games settle in. Right now, it’s not the best start and I’d venture to guess that the ratings dipped because of the blowouts. I’m sure most of you will point out that there were blowouts in the four team playoff and yes, that is true. Also in most years we had trouble finding four good teams in the CFP, it didn’t make sense to add eight more teams in the process.
